In the 1980's and early 90"'s the rail service between Stratford upon Avon and Leamington Spa hung on by a thread with competition from a coach link between Stratford and Coventry Railway Station for WCML services to and from London Euston certainly not helping. The connecting rail service between Stratford and Leamington was provided by a single car DMU, usually M55006 or M55012. Known by local railway staff as 'the bubblecar' here it is on a winter's night in the early 1980's waiting at Platform 1 (Bay) Leamington Spa to form the last connecting service from London Paddington, the 2155hrs to Stratford upon Avon .
